Disorders of the ABS system may be caused by defects on all involved components, wires and contacts (wheel speed sensors, ABS control unit, hydraulic block, modulator pump, wheel brakes). For a first orientation, we have compiled a list of common symptoms associated with a defect in the ABS control unit. If your ABS system is diagnosable, please let the service station read the trouble codes.
For the repair of most ABS control units you need to send only the control unit itself for a repair or overhaul, without hydraulic block and modulator pump. The weight of the hydraulic manifold often causes transport damages, for which we shall not be liable. The hydraulic connections have to be sealed to protect them from contamination. Improperly sealed hydraulic blocks are no longer suitable for the replacement in the vehicle. Please read the notes on the product page of the controller.
For some defective devices, it is necessary to send the entire unit: the ABS control unit, the hydraulic modulator block and the pump motor. For example, if there are errors on the modulator pump motor or disorders associated with the hydraulic system, eg error on the brake pressure sensor.
